Tales from the Northern Forests

September

September blow soft, till the fruit is in the loft.

It is during September that most of the crops are harvested. The full moon closest to the Autumn equinox, which is often between 21-23 September, is known as the Harvest Moon.
On the Sunday nearest to the harvest moon the UK celebrates the harvest festival. In the past though the festival would be held as soon as the harvest had been completed and the final cartload triumphantly returned to the farm. At the farm the Harvest Supper, also known as the 'Harvest Home', would take place accompanied by singing, drinking games and much reverie.

September Morning

Written by Neil Diamond and Gilbert Becaud, 1979
Stay for just a while
Stay, and let me look at you
It's been so long, I hardly knew you
Standing in the door
Stay with me a while
I only wanna talk to you
We've traveled halfway 'round the world
To find ourselves again

September morn
We danced until the night became a brand new day
Two lovers playing scenes from some romantic play
September morning still can make me feel that way

Look at what you've done
Why, you've become a grown-up girl
I still can hear you crying
In a corner of your room
And look how far we've come
So far from where we used to be
But not so far that we've forgotten
How it was before

September morn
Do you remember how we danced that night away
Two lovers playing scenes from some romantic play
September morning still can make me feel that way
